SUPPORT

June 29, 2007

Dear Friends,

From June 2006 through May 2007, I was blessed to minister in South Africa alongside the Zakariasen's - a missionary family from my home church. During my time in Africa, God allowed me many amazing opportunities… Ministering with a missions team in Mabuzane, Mozambique. Acting as a girls' camp counselor in Choma, Zambia. Co-teaching a Sunday School class at a church in Pretoria, South Africa. Working with a new church plant in the village of Gastaldi in South Africa. Helping to pass out Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to children at a government school in Onderstepoort, South Africa. Teaching the Zakariasen children and becoming a part of the Zakariasen family… These opportunities surpassed anything I had ever dreamed for my life. However, far greater than those opportunities were the lessons that God taught me and the powerful work He did in my life. While the lessons were abundant, perhaps one of the most important things I learned was my need to make God my everything and to put Him above anything and anybody else in my life. Psalm 73:25 says, "Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you." It truly is my desire that God be first place in my life. Along with that comes the desire to follow God wherever He may lead me. Now, it is with great excitement that I share the following news.

I have been presented with the amazing opportunity of returning to South Africa where I will continue to assist the Zakariasen family with their ministry. I have made a commitment to be with them in South Africa for approximately six months, beginning in August 2007. While in South Africa, my responsibilities will remain primarily the same as they were previously. Namely, to maintain an attitude of flexibility and a servant's heart, to be used of God wherever I am needed. I will also be assisting the Zakariasen family with the education of their children, helping with tasks around the house, and assisting in the hosting of missions teams that visit from the States. I will also have continued opportunities to get involved in ministries within the villages and local churches.

I am truly humbled that God has allowed me this awesome privilege of being a servant for Him in South Africa. I ask that you will join me in praying for the people that the Zakariasen family minister to, as well as the people I will come into contact with while I am there. The people in South Africa have so many needs; but far beyond the physical needs are the spiritual needs. I pray that we will be able to share the truth of the gospel with many people, that they may also experience the joy of being children of God. The Zakariasen family has been mightily used of God, and I am so looking forward to, once again, being involved in their ministry.

I would greatly appreciate your prayer support, and if God so leads, your financial support. If God lays it upon your heart to make a financial contribution, please make checks payable to Prior Lake Baptist Church and note on the Memo line "Krista Smith - South Africa." Donations may be sent to Krista Smith at 2034 Cardinal Drive Shakopee, MN 55379. For more information and current updates, please visit my website at www.journeytoafrica.org.
